The
Golden Gavel Speech
Competition is an annual
speaking competition
sponsored by the Golden
Gavel Committee, a non
profit organization.
The event is open to all
novice speakers, 17
years and older,
on Vancouver Island
and its Islets whose
training in public
speaking is limited to
the 18 months.
The Golden Gavel Speech
Competition Mission
Statement:
"The
purpose
of this annual
competition is to
encourage and challenge
all novice speakers
through friendly
competition in a
supportive environment.
This competition is for
novice speakers. Our
intent is to create a
safe area for novice
speakers to challenge
themselves and grow."

this historical
competition, and this
year with Prelimary
rounds were held in
Victoria and Nanaimo.
