The purpose of this annual
contest is to encourage
and challenge novice
speakers through friendly
competition in a
supportive environment. We
welcome involvement from
your club, school, and the
local community to support
this exciting event.
Contestants cannot have
previously entered the
Golden Gavel competition.
Each contestant will
prepare an original 5 - 7
minute speech on any
subject matter of his or
her choice. The winner and
the first runner up from
each preliminary contest
night will be required to
prepare a NEW speech for
the contest final evening,
(also a 5 - 7 minute
speech).
The Golden Gavel
Eligibility Committee will review
applications. The Entry
and Eligibility Form
(below),
biographical information
sheet (below), contest
rules, and judging
criteria (including “Time
and Light” procedure
information) are available
for distribution to any
interested participants.
Contestants
are
to complete the Entry and
Eligibility Forms and
submit them to the GOLDEN
GAVEL Eligibility
